Day 1 – Meeting Day

Day 2 – Tuura-su village

This is where ours begins. Horseback riding in the Tian Shan Mountains. After breakfast, transfer to Tuura-su village, introduction to horses, saddling and start of the journey. Distance: 17 km, altitude difference +1350 m / -11 m.

Day 3 – Tong Ashu Pass (4023 m)

We climb to the Tong Ashu pass (4023 m) and descend. After the hike, rest at the hot springs of Issyk Su awaits. Overnight in tents or yurts. Distance: 12 km, altitude difference +700 m / -1070 m.

Day 4 – Teshik Kul Lake (3727 m)

Day 5 – Tosor Ashu Pass (3893 m)

Day 8 – Bokonbaev village

We descend to the village of Bokonbaev. Distance: 13 km, altitude difference +40 m / -800 m.

Day 9 – Return to Bishkek

After breakfast, return to Bishkek, stay at a guesthouse. Free time, rest and preparation for the trip home.

Where to fly and who will meet us

You arrive in Bishkek, at MANAS International Airport. It is advisable to choose a flight that arrives before 10:00. If all participants of the trek arrive on one flight, you will be met at the airport and immediately go to the village of Bokonbayev, from where the horseback riding tour of Kyrgyzstan begins (the journey takes about 4 hours). If there is no suitable flight, you can arrive a day earlier.

Extra day in Bishkek

If you arrive earlier or depart later, it is recommended to stay overnight in Bishkek. You can book a hotel or guesthouse yourself, and we can help with the reservation. The drive from the airport to the city takes about 30 minutes, a taxi costs 20-25 €. The average price of a double room in Bishkek is 30-40 €. On the meeting day, our driver will pick you up from the hotel and take you back after the end of the tour.

End of the hike and return home

Horseback riding tour in Kyrgyzstan ends in the town of Bokonbayev. From here, transportation is organized to Bishkek airport (about 4 hours away). We usually return around 4:00 PM, so it is convenient to choose a return ticket for the evening or the next day.

During the hike, you will eat 4 meals: a hot breakfast, two light lunches and dinner. Food is cooked on a campfire or on a gas stove. Vegetarian or diet food can be ordered upon request.

Insects

There are mosquitoes, midges and ticks in the Tien Shan Mountains. Use closed clothing and repellents for protection.

What is the weather like in the Tien Shan Mountains?

The climate of Kyrgyzstan is warm and dry in summer: in the valleys the temperature is +26–+30 °C. In the mountains it is 10–15 degrees cooler, at night it can drop to 0–+5 °C. It is recommended to bring a jacket, waterproof clothing, a warm hat and gloves.

Is it possible to rent equipment on site?

If you don't have your own equipment, it can be rented: tent €25, sleeping bag €20, tourist mat €5. This is convenient for participants of horseback riding in the Tien Shan mountains.

Where are we staying?

The first and last nights are spent in a guesthouse in the village. The remaining nights are spent in tents in the mountains. Sometimes, a yurt camp option is available (for an additional fee).

What does a camp in the mountains look like?
The camp is prepared by the guides: tents are already set up and dinner is ready for your arrival. In case of rain, a large Red-Fox tent is used, which can accommodate a group of up to 20 people.
